NEEDED LIFT

Fred Dick, a pilot, recently went home to be
with the Lord. We can all share stories of his
very adventurous life. A good characteristic of
a pilot is to survey the ground to find the
safest place to make an emergency landing. I
remember one time when he started to bring
his dead plane down for a landing. As he got
near the ground, he saw an obstacle. He had
no power to help him miss it. So he quickly
talked to the Lord, "Please do a miracle." That
moment, his engine leaped to life just long
enough to give the needed lift to clear it.

He was rescued, a last-minute miracle. Many
times God works in the lives of His children.
That may be what God has in mind for you.
However all you can see is the obstacle!

Encouragement comes from Isaiah 43:16-19,
"This is what the Lord says - He who made a
way through the sea (obstacle), a path through
the mighty waters, who drew out the chariots
and horses, the army and reinforcements
together, and they lay there, never to rise
again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick."
That's the mightiest army at that time. About
to crush the Jews trapped by the Red Sea. A
miracle, God blew, like we blow out a candle.

People look at the water in front of them and
the approaching army behind them and say,
"No way." Like Fred's situation, it looked like
there was no way but crash. But then God
makes a Way." Our Lord is the great Way
Maker. He removes an obstacle that looks
absolutely impossible. He lifts us over it.

He says, "Don't dwell on the past. I am doing
a new thing! It springs up, perceive it? I make
a way in the desert, streams and wasteland."
That's Isaiah 43. God says, "I want you to trust
Me for a bold new thing I'm going to do in
your life." We say, "What about the sea, the
obstacle?" He reminds us about the miracles
of the past. I'm the same God who did those. I
make a way where there is none. I provide the
resources where there seems to be none.

When will He do this? Like He did for the
Jews, and for Fred who was about to crash, at
the last minute. You learn to trust and He will
get the glory. Go to this awesome Lord and
say, "Lord, a miracle. It's my only hope, only
You can do the miracle. Please do what only
You can do." As the obstacle gets closer and
closer, trust God for the needed lift!
